Is High Stakes Poker Real
A poker player’s win rate is multiplied by the number of hands they play and the average size of the pots they win. Thus, the most direct path to increasing your earnings as a poker professional is to increase your table count and play in higher stakes games. A typical live poker game in a casino deals 20–25 hands per hour. A 10k buy-in or higher is called high stakes. 100,000 buy-in is generally the biggest “regular” game you see. This is the common buy-in we saw in the show “High Stakes Poker”, with $200/$400 blinds. Keep in mind that you can only 1-table in live poker. This means everyone is presumably able to play their A Game.
Weekly Poker Hand #335: If you are like me then you consumed all of the High Stakes Poker episodes all those years ago. The nostalgia was real this week as PokerGO released the first episode of the brand new series of this wonderful show. It wouldn’t feel right to launch this mini series of High Stakes Poker hands without featuring one of the original legends Mr Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan. In this hand Dwan is back to his old tricks with a questionable hand that he opens UTG. He wouldn’t be the Dwan we knew and loved though without this wide range!

'High Stakes Poker' was back last night on PokerGO, but in a departure from the past few episodes, it featured a mostly new crew of players. Action started off at $200/$400 and pretty much without.
